Leeds United are working on a deal to sign West Brom striker Tyler Roberts, according to a reliable journalist.
Sun correspondent Alan Nixon, who is a transfer specialist, reported on his personal Twitter account on Friday that the Yorkshire giants are “trying hard” to sign the prolific 19-year-old and that he is being targeted to go straight into their first team.
sbo666 The Express and Star report that West Brom have offered Roberts, who has been capped three times by Wales at Under-21s level, a new deal to replace his existing agreement, which expires in the summer. The Premier League club’s hesitation until the new year in offering the contract to the teenager has left the door ajar for other clubs, with Rangers and Marseille reportedly pushing to land the player for a knockdown price.
The Express and Star claimed that a “multimillion bid” had been lodged for Roberts, who is currently on loan at Walsall but is set to return to West Brom at the end of January.
Roberts has made a big impression for Walsall in League One, scoring five league goals in 15 matches, and their manager Jon Whitney is still hoping to extend his loan until the end of the season.West Brom won’t want to lose Roberts but,
if they do, the Midlands club would certainly rather it be to an English club rather than one from another country who can take advantage of cross-border rules and sign him for just £300,000.
