Davie Hay has written in The Glasgow Evening sbo Times that he believes Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers will drop out-of-form winger Scott Sinclair for Patrick Roberts when he's back.
The on-loan Manchester City star has been out of action since November 29 with a hamstring injury.
But encouraging pictures emanating from Celtic's winter break to Dubai appears to show Roberts back in light training.
The 20-year-old ace was initially ruled out until March but he looks well ahead of schedule.
Sinclair, who scooped the Scottish Premiership Player of the Year last term, has looked a shadow of his former self at times this season.
The English attacker has 10 goals from 28 games in all competitions this season, which means he has a ways to go before he equals his haul of 25 from last term.
In contrast, James Forrest, who also has 10 goals this season, is going from strength to strength under Rodgers.
And Celtic legend Hay says that the Northern Irishman might drop sbo Sinclair to accommodate a team with Forrest and Roberts, when the latter returns from injury.
He told The GET: "Patrick Roberts' return to full fitness might solve a dilemma for Brendan Rodgers.
"I just wonder if the fact that Scott Sinclair has not quite hit the heights of last season might encourage Rodgers to play James Forrest on one side and Roberts on another.
"Roberts did not arrive until nearer the end of the transfer window after a long summer of negotiating and will be determined to get a strong second sbo half of the campaign in after spending the last few months on the outside looking in."
